Welcome to Ski Board Registry LLC
By accessing or using our website and services, you confirm that you have read, understand, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and Ski Board Registry LLC. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use our services. These Terms include an arbitration agreement and a class action waiver.
Notice of Proprietary Rights
The design, functionality, content, and overall concept of Ski Board Registry LLC’s website and services—including logos, graphics, slogans, layout, software, databases, and business methods—are proprietary to Ski Board Registry LLC. Any unauthorized use, reproduction, copying, imitation, or creation of a derivative or competing service is strictly prohibited and may result in civil and criminal liability.
1. Service Overview
Ski Board Registry LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”) provides a gear registration platform allowing users to log their ski or snowboard equipment (the “Service”). Users may submit gear details including, but not limited to, serial number, make/model, bindings, and photos. Our purpose is to help deter theft and facilitate the recovery of lost or stolen equipment.
2. Eligibility and Account
-
Accounts are non-transferable.
-
You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account and use our services.
-
By registering gear, you affirm that you are the legal owner of the equipment and, to the best of your knowledge, it is not stolen.
-
Each user account is valid for one year and will automatically renew every 12 months unless canceled.
-
Additional gear may be registered under the same account for a fee as specified on our website.
-
You agree that all information provided when creating an account is accurate and complete and that you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. You are responsible for all activity conducted under your account.
3. PARTRICIPATING BRANDS & PROMOTIONAL MEMBERSHIPS
From time to time, Ski Board Registry LLC may, at its sole discretion, offer complimentary or promotional registry memberships in connection with participating ski or snowboard brands. Such promotional access is offered by Ski Board Registry LLC as a visibility and adoption initiative and is not provided, sponsored, administered, or guaranteed by any manufacturer.
Participation by any brand is voluntary and may change, pause, or end at any time without notice. Inclusion of a brand as a participating brand does not constitute an endorsement, sponsorship, partnership, agency relationship, exclusivity, or financial affiliation between Ski Board Registry LLC and the brand.
Promotional or complimentary memberships, when offered, apply only to eligible newly purchased items and are subject to verification requirements established by Ski Board Registry LLC. Ski Board Registry LLC reserves the right to approve, deny, modify, or discontinue promotional eligibility or access at any time, with or without notice.
4. Gear Registration & User Responsibilities
- By submitting gear for registration, you represent and warrant that you are the rightful legal owner. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Ski Board Registry LLC for any claims, disputes, or damages arising from false, inaccurate, or fraudulent registration.
-
To register an item, users must upload two photos clearly showing the item in full and the visible serial number.
-
Gear with a legible serial number can be registered.
-
Gear without a serial number may be registered if it was purchased from a store or manufacturer and the user provides proof of purchase (such as a bill of sale or receipt). Detailed instructions for registering gear without a serial number are provided on our website. You agree to follow the current instructions provided at the time of purchase and registration (see FAQ).
-
Each registration allows users to later flag gear as missing, lost, or stolen through their account dashboard.
-
If gear is sold or transferred, users should mark it as “sold” to prevent future association with their account.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the registry, search functions, or photo storage.
5. Public Search Function
A free serial number lookup tool is available to the public, not just subscribers. This increases the visibility of your gear should it become missing, lost, or stolen.
Communication and Recovery
-
Only if the gear has been flagged as “missing, lost, stolen” will a contact form appear to initiate direct communication between the finder and the registered owner.
-
If your gear is marked “active” or “sold,” your contact information will not populate.
-
Your email will be the contact method that populates in the public search field and will appear if you flag an item as “missing, lost, stolen.” Please ensure your email address is current and correct.
-
We do not mediate returns or guarantee that all missing, lost, or stolen gear will be recovered.
-
Any communication that occurs between users is solely between those users. Ski Board Registry LLC does not screen, monitor, or moderate user messages and is not responsible for their content or outcome.
For your safety, we highly recommend coordinating returns through public locations or local authorities. Submitting a police report is encouraged if your gear was stolen.
Ski Board Registry LLC does not determine or adjudicate legal ownership of gear and will not participate in disputes regarding ownership, recovery, or possession of equipment.
6. Sticker Purchase (Optional)
Optional premium waterproof stickers are available for purchase by members only to visibly tag your gear as registered.
Equipment Security
-
Stickers serve as a visual deterrent and help identify registered equipment, but do not confer legal ownership or guarantee recovery of missing, lost or stolen gear.
-
Sticker use is strictly optional. Members are responsible for securing their own equipment and should continue to use additional measures such as locks, ski checks, or other physical protections.
-
The purchase or use of a sticker does not constitute proof of ownership and does not create any right, title, or claim of ownership beyond your existing registration.
7. Prohibited Conduct and Review Policy
-
Users shall not register gear that does not belong to them.
-
We reserve the right to review and investigate accounts suspected of registering gear frequently and reselling within short timeframes.
-
Suspicious behavior may result in account suspension or deletion at our discretion.
-
Users may not collect, copy, scrape, reverse-engineer, or attempt to download bulk data from the registry or search tool for any commercial purpose.
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SKI BOARD REGISTRY LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROPERTY, LOSS OF USE, LOSS OF DATA, OR LOSS OF PROFITS. THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
Some states do not allow certain warranty disclaimers or limitations on liability. In such cases, our liability shall not exceed the total amount paid by you to use the service within the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Ski Board Registry LLC, its owners, employees, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising out of or relating to your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your registration of gear that does not belong to you.
10. Payment and Renewal
-
All fees are non-refundable unless required by law. Users may cancel auto-renewal at any time from their account dashboard. Cancellation prevents future charges but does not provide a refund for the current billing period.
-
Membership fees are billed annually and will auto-renew unless canceled prior to the renewal date.
-
Additional fees may apply for registering gear beyond the number included in the base membership.
-
All payments are processed securely via third-party payment providers (e.g., Stripe, PayPal). We do not store credit card details.
-
Canceling your membership stops future billing but does not provide prorated or partial refunds for the current membership period.
11. Privacy and Data Use
- Please refer to our Privacy Policy for full details on data handling, rights, and user controls: https://skiboardregistry.com/privacy-policy/
-
We are committed to protecting your privacy.
-
Data submitted for gear registration will only be used to provide our services.
-
We will never sell your personal data to third parties.
-
We may use third-party payment processors, hosting services, and email platforms to operate the Service. By using the Service, you consent to the processing of your data by those providers solely for service delivery.
12. Account Termination
You may cancel your account at any time. Ski Board Registry LLC also reserves the right to terminate or suspend accounts for:
-
Violations of these Terms
-
Fraudulent gear registration
-
Abusive behavior on the platform
Termination of an account does not result in a refund of fees already paid unless required by law. Sections 7 (Limitation of Liability), 8 (Indemnification), 12 (Intellectual Property), and 13 (Governing Law & Arbitration) shall survive account termination.
13. Intellectual Property Ownership
All content on this site—including, but not limited to, logos, graphics, text, databases, software, features, layout, design elements, user interface (UI), user experience (UX), business methods, processes, and the overall “look and feel” of the platform—is the exclusive property of Ski Board Registry LLC and is protected under U.S. and international copyright, trademark, trade dress, and trade secret laws.
Prohibited Use
You may not copy, imitate, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, data mine, scrape, clone, duplicate, reproduce, redistribute, sell, sublicense, mirror, frame, crawl, harvest, train AI models on, or otherwise exploit the Service or the registry database—whether in whole or in part—for any commercial, analytical, or competitive purpose without prior written consent from Ski Board Registry LLC.
The name “Ski Board Registry,” the slogan(s) or phrases associated with the Service, and all related logos, branding, designs, and trademarks may not be used in connection with any product or service without express written permission.
Trade Secrets & Service Protection
The Service—including its proprietary concepts and implementations (e.g., membership-based equipment registry structure, data architecture, database organization, serial lookup logic, flagging system, missing/lost/stolen gear notification system, and the method of connecting users regarding equipment)—is protected as a trade secret and proprietary business method. You agree not to reproduce, imitate, re-create, reverse engineer, or attempt to create a service that is identical or substantially similar, whether in whole or in part.
Trade Dress and Design Protections
The overall visual presentation, layout, color schemes, typography, page organization, interactive elements, icons, graphics, and other design features of the Service constitute Ski Board Registry LLC’s trade dress. You may not copy, imitate, or create a substantially similar design, or use any design elements in a way that could cause confusion with Ski Board Registry LLC’s brand or website.
User-Submitted Content
By uploading photos, serial numbers, equipment descriptions, receipts, or other materials (“User Content”), you grant Ski Board Registry LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, non-transferable, royalty-free license to store, host, display, and use such content solely for the purpose of operating, maintaining, and providing the Service. You retain ownership of your User Content.
User Content may remain associated with a registered item while that item is flagged as missing, lost, or stolen, or while it remains relevant to user-initiated recovery efforts or third-party inquiries. Ski Board Registry LLC does not conduct investigations, determine ownership rights, mediate disputes, or participate in law enforcement or legal proceedings related to registered equipment.
Ski Board Registry LLC makes no representations regarding the accuracy, completeness, or legality of User Content and is not responsible for verifying ownership, authenticity, or the validity of claims made by users. Responsibility for all User Content rests solely with the user who submitted it.
If you believe your intellectual property rights are being infringed on the Service, you may submit a DMCA takedown notice to skiboardregistry@gmail.com, and we will respond in accordance with applicable law.
14. Governing Law
- These Terms shall be governed and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Michigan and the United States, without regard to conflict of laws.
Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration on an individual basis in the State of Michigan. Users waive the right to participate in class actions or class arbitration against Ski Board Registry LLC.
15. Term Updates/Modifications
- We may update or modify these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the Service after such posting constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
16. Force Majeure
- Ski Board Registry LLC shall not be liable for any failure or delay in the performance of the Service resulting from events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, labor disputes, war, terrorism, government action, power outage, or internet/hosting interruptions.
